Controls

  • Double-click empty space, or + Node, to create a node
  • Drag a node to move it · drag empty space to select a group · nodes snap to line up while dragging (edges included, not just centers)
  • Click or drag between ports to connect · a requirement's port is on its left edge, numbered (ordered) or plain (unordered/resource)
  • Pulling a fresh connection off a numbered or resource slot into empty space previews a matching node to create and connect — click to place, Esc or right-click to cancel
  • Dropping a new connection onto an already-filled numbered slot inserts it there and shifts the existing one down, rather than replacing it — the numbering says what order things are intended to happen in, but Tasks still shows every numbered item as actionable at once unless something explicitly blocks it (see the blocked-by link below)
  • Drag from an action/outcome's out port onto another one's small port on the left of its title to mark it blocked by that node — shown as a dashed noodle, and accepts any number of blockers at once · unlike a regular requirement, a blocked-by link never rolls its source's resources up into this node, and a blocked node never shows up in Tasks (regardless of its own Needs-discussion/Needs-scoping/Understood state) until every blocker completes
  • Click a noodle to pick up that end and move it · drag it into empty space to disconnect
  • Click the state icon in a node's corner to cycle Needs discussion (a red, hatched "real open question") / Needs scoping / Understood / Complete · right-click it instead to pick a state directly from a vertical stack · a Needs-discussion or Needs-scoping action shows up in Tasks too — resolving that is itself actionable · a Needs-discussion or Needs-scoping outcome shows up there too, as its own "think about it" entry, even before it has any actionable steps of its own
  • Click a resource's tick to toggle whether it's been acquired (grey/green) · right-click it instead to pick directly from a vertical stack
  • Arrow keys align the selected nodes' edges to whichever is furthest in that direction (needs 2+ selected)
  • Shift+C connects selected nodes left→right
  • Select 2+ nodes (or drag-select 1) and press B, or click the +, to backdrop them · click a backdrop's title bar to select/drag it
  • Alt+drag a noodle to insert and place a dot node on it
  • Middle-drag to pan · scroll or alt+middle-drag to zoom
  • Delete/Backspace to remove the selection · Ctrl+C/X/V to copy/cut/paste · Ctrl+Z/Y to undo/redo
  • Press ? (or click Jump) to jump straight to any node by typing its name — ↑/↓ and Enter, or click a result · clicking a Tasks row (not its checkbox) jumps to and centers that row's node too, at whatever zoom level the canvas was already at

Settings

Move a graph between browsers or devices as a JSON file — handy for a one-off transfer outside of live Sync (e.g. a local test copy into a freshly deployed one).

Permanently deletes the whole saved graph on this device.

Tasks

Actionable now, across every outcome — plus any outcome that still needs its own plan worked out.

No node selected.

Node

A dot node just routes connections — no name or cost of its own. Deleting it reconnects whatever it was passing through.
